    ok2fly

    Safely operate your RPA

    更新日志

Version 1.5 contains a number of updates.

    1. The mapping engine software was upgraded to the latest SDK version. This was quite a large change and as a result you may notice some slight differences in the way the map behaves. Overall though, the look and feel is almost identical to previous versions of ok2fly™.

    2. The app and backend support functionality now support the extended CASA Airspace Authorisation trial. This includes the ability to automatically authorise flights in the Sydney harbour restricted area R405 and Sydney airport (YSSY) envelope. Although this is principally a data update the changes made will facilitate the rapid incorporation of future Airports and Restricted areas as they are included in the trial.

    3. Users are now able to measure distances on the map using a 2-finger tap and hold gesture. When the user executes the two finger tap and hold on the map, a ruler (dashed line) will be displayed. The ruler will be labelled with the distance in either Metres, Kilometres, or Nautical Miles between the ends. While maintaining the 2-finger touch, the user can position the ruler ends as appropriate by moving 1 or both fingers. The ruler label will be updated in response to any change to the ruler ends. To remove the ruler simply tap on the map.

    4. An additional overlay has been added. The ACMA communications data now has a corresponding overlay that displays the known location of communications infrastructure. Infrastructure may be cell towers and any other communications apparatus that may constitute a potential hazard for UAV. Information is displayed as Red or Blue dots where Red indicates a location accuracy of within 10 metres and Blue corresponds to Unknown accuracy. The ACMA data is updated daily. Note: The overlay will be activated a short period after the app has been released.

    更新日志

Version 1.4 ok2fly incorporates a major change to way Flight Time is handled. In previous versions of ok2fly, Flight Time was based on the time specified or Current Time for the location and time zone of the device. When planning local flights this did not present a problem, but when planning flights across time zones (e.g., interstate) the start time would need to be adjusted to include the time offset relative to the device location and time zone. In some instances, this has created confusion around the actual start and end time of a flight.

To rectify and streamline the situation, the Flight Time is now based on the time at the flight location. Therefore, when a time is specified, the time will represent the equivalent time of day at the planned location of the flight. The app will display the calculated time zone against all times and inform the users if the time zone is different to the user current location.

For example, for a pilot currently located in Canberra planning a future flight in the Glenelg area of Adelaide, entering a Flight Time of 1630 signifies 1630 (ACST).

Version 1.2.2 includes the following additional functionality:

    1. This version implements the Apple mandatory requirement (as of 30/6/2022) for a user to be able to permanently delete their account and associated data. A new option has been added to the MANAGE ACCOUNT section of the Settings option to facilitate this requirement. Deletion is permanent and any associated data stored by ok2fly is deleted. On completion the app state will be reset to recreational use, i.e. as a generic non-identifiable user. Users can create a new user using the same previously used login credentials after deletion, but they will be treated as an entirely new user.

    2. The query details listing now exposes the What3Words for the selected location. The What3Words displayed can be quoted as the proposed location for a flight and entered via the search window prefaced by "///". For example, for the location "antibiotic.crowded.descending" enter "///antibiotic.crowded.descending" in the search field and select the matching entry from the list of close or matching options displayed below.

    3. Fixed an issue in Airspace Authorisation where maximum altitude height - Meters / Feet are incorrectly displayed.

The following new functionality is included in release 1.2.1 of ok2fly™:

Two new Active Overlays and three Static Overlays have been added to ok2fly™. Each of the new overlays are accessed via the Overlays button on the lower righthand of the map display. ok2fly™ will indicate when active overlays are active by displaying an icon in the status bar at the bottom of the map along with the corresponding elapsed time measure.

    ACTIVE OVERLAYS

Weather Radar Overlay – The weather radar overlay is a live display of precipitation events over the previous 60-minutes. The weather is animated as sequential 5-minute snapshots representing the 60-minute period. The intensity of the precipitation is depicted using a colour gradient of green through to red, where red represents the highest intensity. When active a cloud icon is displayed in the status bar along with the number of minutes (-ve) since the snapshot was created.

Lightning Overlay – Lightning events are displayed on the map as lightning icons. The icons are oriented, and colour coded to represent the type of strike, namely Cloud-to-Cloud/Cloud-to-Air/Intra-Cloud (Blue Outline/Horizontal Icon) and Cloud-to-Ground (Red Outline/Vertical Icon). Given that there can be many lightning strikes the strike data is downloaded progressively as the strikes occur. Ok2fly™ accumulates up to a maximum of 60-minutes of strikes.

The Lightning overlay works with or independently of the Weather Radar overlay.

    - When the Weather Radar overlay is active the accumulated strikes are animated in time with the weather radar and the status bar cloud icon is changed to a cloud and lightning icon.

    - When the Weather Radar overlay is not active all accumulated strikes are displayed. The opacity of the strike icon is adjusted based on their age. The older the strike the lower the opacity. The status bar will display a lightning icon along with the age in minutes (-ve) of the oldest strike.

    Notes:

    1. As the term implies, active overlays are actively downloading the data used to generate the overlay. In mobile applications without access to Wi-Fi, the data downloaded will be via cellular data and count towards cellular data usage.
    2. The time taken to fully display an overlay will depend on available network performance.

    STATIC OVERLAYS

Non-Registered Airfields – This overlay displays all currently known non-registered private airfields. These airfields are not registered as ALA’s with Airservices Australia and typically facilitate the operation of GA aircraft into and out of the specified location. When this overlay is selected a light blue filled circle is displayed along with a generated alphanumeric Y code and airfield name. The centre of the circle is the supplied airport reference point.

Uncontrolled Env & Splays – This overlay displays the outline of the airport Envelope and Splays as specified in Part 101 Division 9.1 RPAS operations at or near non-controlled aerodromes. The envelopes and splays are only displayed for non-controlled airfields (registered and nonregistered) where runway information is available.

Heliport 1.5NM Envelopes – This overlay displays the 1.5NM envelope around heliports using the heliport airport reference point as its centre. Although safety apps are still required to use a 3NM envelope for heliports, this overlay displays the envelope specified in Part 101 Division 9.1 RPAS operations at or near non-controlled aerodromes.

    更新日志

Version 1.2 of ok2fly includes the following new features:

    1. Active Overlays

The Overlay function now includes a new section "Active Overlays". The first active overlay added is a live aviation traffic display. The overlay displays tracked live aircraft* with in 180 nautical miles and up to 15,000 feet AMSL of the current map centre. Each aircraft is depicted in its current location along with its altitude** and a climb/descend indicator as appropriate.

To minimise network traffic, position updates are limited to every 10 seconds. However, so the user can appreciate the continuing movement of the aircraft in between updates, ok2fly simulates the track of the aircraft based on the last known ground speed and heading. The simulated updates provide an interim and approximate location of the aircraft while in flight. The position of the aircraft will however snap to the actual position and heading when the next position update is received.

    2. App Version Number and Attribution

The last item displayed in the Information window is now “About ok2fly™” information. The About ok2fly™” information lists the current version and build number along with data attribution information required to acknowledge the data sources used in ok2fly.

    3. Fixes

    - Fixed issue where on some devices the user would erroneously receive a "No internet" warning on start-up.

    * The live data feed comprises multiple aviation data feeds and is not guaranteed to contain all aviation traffic.

** Altitudes are rounded to the nearest 100 feet.
