    NEW:
    Adding “Unspecified” sleep stage to your daily Sleep Analysis.

    Alongside the four sleep stages (REM, Deep Sleep, Core, Awake) you get for each logged night of sleep, you’ll now a fifth category, “unspecified,” appearing in the mornings, where unidentified sleep chunks appear. That means you may see it occasionally, often, or possibly never—all depending on your sleeping habits.

    How will this change your Gentler Streak experience?
    Including the “unspecified” sleep in Gentler Streak means that its duration will now contribute toward your sleep goal and directly influence your sleep quality assessment. This update is especially beneficial for those who work night shifts, do daytime naps, or like to hit the snooze button, offering a better reflection of your sleep habits, and their effect.

    Why is this time classified as “unspecified”?
    The Apple Watch categorizes naps and any sleep after the alarm simply as “asleep,” without assigning a specific sleep phase. Since the data lacks detailed context, these periods are labelled as “unspecified,” indicating only that you were likely asleep during that time.

    Three years down the road, our little workout-tracking baby has become a complete grown-up wellness tracker! This update comes with a redesigned Wellbeing tab and a game changer: the Sleep section. We’ve put in the work—8+ months of testing various sleep devices and apps and consulting with professionals—so all you have to do is... sleep.

    Sleep plays a crucial role in how we feel in our day-to-day lives; with this update, we hope we’ve made it effortless to understand and improve yours. From your fall asleep time to how much restorative sleep (deep + REM) you’re getting, our sleep analysis provides a clear overview each morning. Check your past 14 nights with a tap, see trends in sleep duration, consistency, and stages, and spot patterns that could help fine-tune your sleep hygiene. We genuinely hope this is another step towards grabbing the bull by its horns: the bull being your wellbeing.

    WELLBEING TAB
    Yorhart keeps grinning at the top, but what’s happening below has slightly changed. We’ve split the Body Metrics and Health, as the first are straightforward metrics, and the latter are more complex body processes which demand more attention.

    Settings
    In the top-right corner, the Wellbeing screen’s settings allow you to customize which metrics appear and their order.

    Body Metrics
    Daily vital health metrics now sit right below your well-being status. You can choose between two layouts: the familiar extended view or a brief, more condensed overview.

    Health
    It includes Sleep and Period tracking, with more categories in future updates. The Period went through a cycle or two, and more changes are still to come.

    SLEEP ANALYSIS
    Tapping on the Sleep card on Wellbeing will bring you to sleep analysis. In the upper-right corner, there’s a “Sleep Goal” card. Setting your goal helps us tailor the data more accurately to you, so follow the on-screen instructions for optimal personalization.

    Sleep Quality

We’ve put in the work—8+ months of testing various sleep devices and apps and consulting with professionals—so all you have to do is... sleep.

    Sleep plays a crucial role in how we feel in our day-to-day lives; with this update, we hope we’ve made it effortless to understand and improve yours. From your fall asleep time to how much restorative sleep (deep + REM) you’re getting, our sleep analysis provides a clear overview each morning. Check your past 14 nights with a tap, see trends in sleep duration, consistency, and stages, and spot patterns that could help fine-tune your sleep hygiene. We genuinely hope this is another step towards grabbing the bull by its horns: the bull being your wellbeing.

    WELLBEING TAB
    Yorhart keeps grinning at the top, but what’s happening below has slightly changed. We’ve split the Body Metrics and Health, as the first are straightforward metrics, and the latter are more complex body processes which demand more attention.

    In the top-right corner, the Wellbeing screen’s settings allow you to customize which metrics appear and their order.

    Body Metrics
    Daily vital health metrics now sit right below your well-being status. You can choose between two layouts: the familiar extended view or a brief, more condensed overview.

    Health
    It includes Sleep and Period tracking, with more categories in future updates. The Period went through a cycle or two, and more changes are still to come.

    Three years down the road, our little workout-tracking baby has become a complete grown-up wellness tracker! This update comes with a redesigned Wellbeing tab and a game changer: the Sleep section. We’ve put in the work—8+ months of testing various sleep devices and apps and consulting with professionals—and all you have to do now, is... sleep.

    Sleep plays a crucial role in how we feel in our day-to-day lives; with this update, we hope we’ve made it effortless to understand and improve yours. From your fall asleep time to how much restorative sleep (deep + REM) you’re getting, our sleep analysis provides a clear overview each morning. Check your past 14 nights with a tap, see trends in sleep duration, consistency, and stages, and spot patterns that could help fine-tune your sleep hygiene. We genuinely hope this is another step towards grabbing the bull by its horns: the bull being your wellbeing.

    WELLBEING TAB
    Yorhart keeps grinning at the top, but what’s happening below has slightly changed. We’ve split the Body Metrics and Health, as the first are straightforward metrics, and the latter are more complex body processes which demand more attention.

    Settings
    In the top-right corner, the Wellbeing screen’s settings allow you to customize which health metrics appear and their order.

    Body Metrics
    Daily vital health metrics now sit right below your well-being status. You can choose between two layouts: the familiar extended view or a brief, more condensed overview.

    Health
    It includes Sleep and Period tracking, with more categories in future updates. The Period went through a cycle or two, and more changes are still to come.

    SLEEP ANALYSIS
    Tapping on the Sleep card on Wellbeing will bring you to sleep analysis. In the upper-right corner, there’s a “Sleep Goal” card. Setting your goal helps us tailor the data more accurately to you, so follow the on-screen instructions for optimal personalization.

    Sleep Quality
    Each morning, get a concise description of your sleep quality and its metrics. You can check sleep quality for the past 14 nights in the calendar picker at the top of the screen.

    Short-term Overview (sleep duration, consistency, and stages)
    Displaying an overview of the past nights is a great tool to check how on-point your sleep hygiene is and where you could improve it. Are you going to bed/waking up at relatively the same time, and how does that show in sleep stages distribution?

    About Sleep - Insights
    Something so natural to humanity but still such a mystery to most of us. We have prepared seven insights on sleep; they should help us understand sleep phenomena better, their stages, the importance of sleep hygiene, guidance on improving it, etc.

    Team Recommendations
    For optimal results, sleep with your Apple Watch on your wrist using native sleep tracking.
    Using third-party apps that measure sleep based on sound is less reliable than tracking with the watch.
    To see data in your Sleep segment, you must have at least one recorded sleep session in the last 14 days.

    No Sleep Debt?
    Correct. We decided to avoid the “sleep debt” concept, as it has no scientific background. We learned short-term overviews are a reliable way to keep us in check and help establish healthier sleep hygiene.

    New Metrics
    Last week, new fitness metrics were introduced into the Health app: speed for rowing, paddle sports, and cross-country skiing, as well as distance for rowing, paddle sports, cross-country skiing, and skating sports. With this version, you can also make use of them in Gentler Streak.

    Workout Summary Photos Available on iPad
    Thanks to Jasna, you can now add photos to your workout summaries on the Gentler Streak iPad app. Whether added on iPhone or iPad, they’ll be visible on both apps as they sync via iCloud.
