G’day! We’re revvin' up the Rockies and splashing down in the Mississippi, sprinkling free Royale on the bus-riding realms of SMART (in Telluride, Colorado) and MTU (in La Crosse, Wisconsin).
What else?
- We fixed a bug where very late ETAs were disappearing if your trip was running more than 15 minutes behind
- You were more likely to experience issues if your stop was near the end of the line (where all the delays at preceding stops can add up!)
- Thanks to our friends at the MTA in Baltimore for sleuthing this one out
- If you've recently been wondering “why in tarnation did that bus disappear?!”, now you know. Bug is fixed!

Here in Canada, spring hath sprung. (Okay, maybe not in Winnipeg and Calgary.) But it’s slowly making its way northward and inland, gagging us with its wonderful smell and turning city after city into a lake of melted snowmen.
As we swap our wool socks for jean shorts and crop tops, we’ve been busy as ever at Transit HQ:
- In our quest to make it ever-easier for you to know “how do I pay for this bus or train?”, we’ve added contactless fare info into the app
- Does your transit agency let you tap your credit card (or phone) to pay? How much does a single fare cost? We’ll now let you know (in cities where the data’s available)
What else?
- Our designer Béa added a rainbow road’s worth of prideful icons to the app, to make your homescreen more certifiably fabulous (for Royale subscribers)
- …she also replaced the default loading screen with something delightfully darker when you launch the app in dark mode (for everyone — go check!)
- Our data analyst Derek added a ton of ski bus feeds in the French Alps and Rockies, to make your next alpine adventure a little less car-dependent (too many feeds to list here, check transit.app/blog if you’re curious)
- New transit agency partners are offering riders free Royale in Minneapolis-Saint Paul (thanks Metro Transit!), the Coachella Valley (SunLine!), Tampa (HART!), Brantford (Brantford Transit!), Wenatchee (Link Transit!), and Champaign-Urbana (MTD!)
- Enough bug fixes to turn the Chicago River green again

As we swept clear our windows, doors, roads, sidewalks, bike paths, and spiral staircases — making sure not to forget our neighbour’s side — we took a second to carve this update into the snowpack with our avalanche shovels:

It was absolute bedlam in Union Station last week, as thousands upon thousands of Swifties swept into Toronto for a shot at seeing Tay-Tay in the flesh. As we darted between bedazzled cowgirl boots and a choral rendition of Shake It Off so loud it was literally setting off our iPhone earthquake detectors, we wondered why on earth we had bothered to visit Canada’s busiest underground subway station on its busiest day of the year. Ah yes.

- We thought it’d be a good idea to make an overnight bike trip to New Hampshire, to watch the sunrise on Mount Washington in peak fall colours
- Oops, someone forgot to tell these poor Canadians about the 100 kph winds at the summit
- Headed to a better, less drafty destination this fall? Take advantage of iOS 18’s new controls: you can now launch Transit directly into a location search, or into the trip plan results for a specific destination — bypassing the homescreen completely. Swipe down on the top right corner of your screen to set your first control!
- Oh? What’s that? You actually *prefer* to rock a toupée with that drafty, windswept look?
