Search in comments is here! We have a lot more in the works, but wanted to get these new features in your hands as quickly as possible:

- Search for text in comments (and comment authors) using the new "Find in Comments" feature! You will find it in the ... menu or you can add it to your action bar for posts. It will even auto expand comments that you may have collapsed, which include the search phrase.
- Translate Reddit content! There is now a translate option in the all menu for comments, long press menu for self post text, and the long press menu for post titles. (Only on iOS 18 and higher). The translate option will show up when content is in another language from the preferred language of your device.
- Mute inbox notifications for posts from the ... menu or by long pressing on a post title
- Mute inbox notifications for comments from the All swipe action or ... menu
- Adds setting to mark posts as read after upvoting/downvoting in Settings > Posts
- Automatically upvote posts & comments when saving. Turn this on with two new settings in Settings > Posts and Settings > Comments
- Instead of seeing "img" in comments that have image emotes, there will now be a link to view the emote
- Adds "Copy Text" option to the context menu when long pressing a post title

Bug Fixes:

- Fixes an issue that would cause certain Youtube videos to not load
- Fixes rare crash that could happen when loading a subreddit
- Fixes another rare crash that could happen when opening Narwhal

We have a quick release for our first version of 2025 with a few bug fixes:

- Fixes issue where tapping on a post would sometimes open another link
- Fixes issue with post titles displaying empty user flairs

We are finishing out the year with a few bug fixes to address some issues from recent Reddit changes. Our plan is to get some awesome new features out in early 2025. Here are the updates:

- Narwhal now has a new default app icon with more color! The icon should have automatically changed back to the previous dark icon so as to not disrupt what you are used to. If you'd like to change the icon, please go to Settings > App Icons
- Changes Random, My Random, and other random options to all work locally on device, because Reddit shut down these API features. This also means that My Random will now work for everyone without the need of Reddit Premium. For Random, we generated a list of the top 5,000 subreddits and that is used to pick one to display.

- Adds a few new app icons

We have a few bug fixes that we wanted to release before our next large update. There are currently some awesome new features in the works, but for now here are some fixes:

- Fixes issue where certain GIFs would not have audio available
- Fixes issue with the "Open in Narwhal" share extension no longer working
- Fixes issue where audio does not stop when hiding a big preview post

The 9th update of 2024 has some awesome features focused on improving GIFs and Videos.

New:
- GIFs/Videos in Big Preview Mode will only start playing when they are mostly on screen. No more scrolling and seeing GIFs that are already halfway done playing!
- Settings (including themes!) are now synced to your iCloud account so that if you get a new device or have to re-install, everything will still be customized to your liking.
- Adds setting to automatically unmute GIFs/videos in Big Preview mode as you scroll in Settings > Posts
- Adds favorites button as an option for the action bar
- Adds setting to control mute behavior on GIF posts
- App icons will now respond correctly to dark mode. I also added a new orangered and new blue icon.
- Adds setting to control the gesture for how comments are collapsed: single tap, double tap, two finger tap, or disabled altogether

Improved:
- When opening a GIF/Video from Big Preview Mode, the post will show the GIF/Video at the same place on the timeline. For those of you who may not like this behavior, there is now a setting to always start GIFs/Videos from the beginning in Settings > Posts
- GIFs and videos that are unmuted in Big Preview mode will stay un-muted when you open the post

Fixed:
- Fixes issue where iOS dictation would insert a weird character that is displayed on reddit.com
- Changed some icons for the action bar to ensure continuity in the visual style
- Fixes issue where placeholders would be shown with thumbnails turned off

You may need to re-enable the Safari Extension after installing this update due to a change in app configuration.

- Adds setting to use reader mode after tapping "Open in Browser" to view a link in Safari
- Fixes issue where search would return 0 results when searching a subreddit that is in content filters. We recommend checking your filter list to make sure you haven't accidentally added any subreddits.
- Adds confirmation before adding a subreddit to content filters in order to avoid any accidental additions!

We have another tweak from our most recent large update to make the Safari extension even better!

- Safari extension now opens links automatically by default.
- Opening the extension (tap aA in Safari then "Open in Narwhal 2") now has a setting to prompt you when opening reddit.com links in Safari
